Great Britain’s overtime hero, Ben Davies, will return for a 3rd season with the Flames.  The 28-year-old appeared in all 74 contests last term while bagging 17 goals and 42 points during the Patton Conference winning schedule before going on to help the national programme remain in the Elite pool of World Championship play thanks to his extra time game winner against France.  Since his transfer from Coventry Blaze following the 2016-2017 campaign, the native of Cardiff has 33 goals and 39 assists in 140 games calling Spectrum home.

“I’m really excited to be back with the Flames this season!” said Davies. “I hope we can build on the successful 2 years we’ve had in the EIHL and bring some trophies to the club.”

“I’ve enjoyed my time with Guildford Flames so far.  We have a great bunch of players so I’m excited to get back to work with all the boys and meet any new players come August time.”

In 635 Elite League appearances with Cardiff Devils, Braehead Clan, Blaze and Flames, Davies has 115 goals and 174 assists.

The 5’8”, 180lb forward opened his Devils account while still under 18 in 2007-2008 when he iced 25 times.  He increased his contribution over the years to come, spending the bulk of the next 6 terms with the Welsh outfit before a two year tour with the Clan in 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 where he iced over 100 times while recording nearly 60 points.  In addition to his domestic duties, Davies added Champions Hockey League experience to his resume during his 2nd Scottish season when he played 4 games in the European club event.

Davies has 25 GB caps from appearances at the world championships in 2013, 2014, 2018 and 2019, as well as a 3 game Olympic Qualifier run in 2016.  He also wore Flag colours at Jr. level with the Under 18’s and 20’s with whom he racked up 25 combined caps from 2007 through 2011.

“Ben obviously had quite a finish to his season by scoring one of the biggest goals in GB history, but he also put together a terrific season for us ahead of that,” explained Paul Dixon.

“He is a very tenacious, hard working player, with good speed, and can play in a lot of different situations at both ends of the rink.”

“We are looking forward to getting him back into our group for the season, and hopefully he can continue on right where he left off in the Spring.”
