Davies Player of Week
Davies score four goals over the last week as the Flames got three wins. He also picked up an assist, and was voted as the Flames’ Man of the Match for the win over Coventry.
“It was a really good week for us. Obviously in the cup it’s great to get three goals ahead, but you can’t take anything for granted against a side like the Panthers,” said the forward on his side’s three victories last week. “It’s always nice to win, but especially with these wins they were important for both competitions. We’ve been in a lot of games lately that we weren’t winning, sometimes because of a small lapse ourselves. It was very frustrating for us to go through over a few weeks, but it’s been good to turn the corner now.”
Davies' goal tally is up to 10 for the season. “I guess I was in the right places! I got into some good areas and was fortunate to be able to help the team with the goals,” he explained. “We’d slipped a bit in the standings so they were important wins to get up moving up again.”
Guildford’s location sees them face some long rides up to Scotland, of which they’ve done several in recent weeks, meaning the team spend a lot of time together. “We have some big weeks coming up – we’re in Scotland again, then we play back-to-back in Belfast, and then have Cardiff at home!” added Davies, who grew up playing for Cardiff. “Fortunately many of the guys we had last year are with us this season, and then the new ones have integrated really well. We are a very close group.”
