December 12th at Glasgow Clan - League

4

Final

Glasgow Clan made sure Flames ended the road doubleheader with no points after hosting Surrey’s men and sending them home on the back of a 4-3 defeat in Sunday’s closing game.

For the 2nd night in a row, the home team got an early start, this time just over 5 minutes in when Rodney Southam handed Clan the lead.  A 16th minute Mitch Jones goal extended, but Jamal Watson, shorthanded at 15:58, pulled the visitors a goal adrift through the end of the period.

At 26:36, Clan re-stored the multi goal advantage through Colton Yellow Horn and they carried that difference into the 3rd

At 47:57, Flames again slimmed the differential when Chris Gerrie was on target.  A couple of minutes later Nolan Laporte had the 2 goal spread back in play, but a quick reply by Jake Bolton trimmed the lead again to ensure a nailbiter finish down the stretch.    With Flames net empty using at 6th skater for more than a minute, then with a powerplay 17 seconds from time to be 6 on 4, Flames failed to capitalize on the manpower advantage and went away a goal short.

“The trip home will certainly feel a lot longer leaving without anything to show for either game this weekend,” admitted Head Coach Paul Dixon.

“We knew it was a tough ask trying to get points in Nottingham and Glasgow, but we felt prepared and were confident we could get something, so obviously we are very disappointed with the outcomes.”

“We’ll deal with it and we'll start to look ahead to our next games with a visit to Coventry Saturday and then a welcome return to Spectrum on Sunday when Fife drops in.”
