December 27th v Manchester Storm - League

5

Final

Eamon McAdam posted a 24 save shutout, and the Flames peppered Storm with 39 shots on the way to a 5-0 win over the visitors from Manchester.

Flames used a 19-8 first period shot advantage to leave the frame up a goal thank to Lewis Hook at 11:09.

Ryan Tait doubled the advantage at 28:04 and Hook’s 2nd of the contest shortly after the exact halfway mark put the home up 3 to begin the final set.

Just 44 seconds after re-start Matt Alvaro made it a 4-0 game and Steven McParland closed the evening’s offence when he scored the 5th on the powerplay about 6 minutes from time.

McAdam was perfect on 24 shots and Alex Oldale at Storm’s end turned away 34 of 39.

“There is no doubt we were on top of it from the opening,” said Head Coach Paul Dixon.

“We were hard on the forecheck early and we created a lot of good looks in the 1st period and were maybe a little unlucky not to be up by more by the time we got to the 2nd.”

“Guys were patient though and just kept with it to put in a very good 60 minute performance to finally get a win against these guys.”

“We will enjoy this tonight, but back practice tomorrow to get ready for the weekend’s action against Cardiff.”
