6’1”, 210lb Defenceman Kyle Locke will make his pro debut under Spectrum lights during the 21-22 season. The 25 year old iced his previous 4 terms alongside fellow roster addition, and Ontario Tech Ridgeback alumnus, Alex Yuill. In 4 USports seasons, Locke played 95 games while scoring 6 goals and 24 points.
“I am beyond grateful to have an opportunity to play for Guildford,” offered Locke. “Being able to continue my career, meet my teammates, see the town, and do what I can to help this club win is something I won't take for granted. After the past 17 months, I look forward to the season ahead.”
From 2012-2013 to 2014-2015, the native of Newmarket, Ontario, spent 84 games over 3 Junior terms with Ontario Hockey League’s Guelph Storm and North Bay Battalion. His performance earned him a place with the Canada East U19 squad where he had a goal in 5 games before closing out his developmental career in 2015-2016 with OJHL Aurora Tigers where 49 starts yielded 13 goals and 21 assists.
“Kyle is another guy coming here to get his pro start, and you can tell when you speak to him how passionate he is to get on the ice and try and help the team,” offered Paul Dixon.
“He is a very solid body who plays hard and can play physically, and he pays great attention to his defensive responsibilities.”
“We had already signed Alex at the stage we were considering Kyle and Alex could not say enough good things to convince us that Kyle was the right guy for the spot.”
“It is not that long now until Kyle will be coming across to us, and we can’t wait to meet up with him in person and get him set up for contributing to our success this season.”
