Februrary 11th v Fife Flyers - League

2

Final

3

An early 2 goal lead for the Flames didn’t translate to a win as Fife Flyers scored 3 unanswered the rest of the way including an early 3rd period powerplay winner to defeat Spectrum’s men 3-2.

Matt Tugnutt and Matt Alvaro goals in the 8th and 17th minutes, respectively, helped Flames to a 2-0 the lead, but it would be the end of the home scoring for the night.

At 24:13, Lucas Chiodo cut Flyers deficit in half, and, just over 5 minutes from period time, Johan Eriksson brought the visitors level to set up a winner take all 3rd.

Eamon McAdam made 28 saves on 31 shots. Shane Owen for Fife was 39 of 41.

The Kirkcaldy side put a powerplay to good use early in the 3rd to take the win with a Max Humitz decider.

“Not sure what it is about those 2 goal leads but this is not the first time we have let that advantage slip,” said Paul Dixon.

“Losing in any fashion is frustrating, but when you get the good start you always hope to be able to take that forward and play in a way to get it across the line, but we couldn’t do that tonight.”

“We don’t have time to dwell on it. We have to quickly look ahead to Sheffield for a big night Wednesday night and that will be where are heads are at as we begin a new fixture week.”
