February 26th at Dundee Stars - League

5 different scorers tallied the offence for the Flames who had at least a goal in each period and Kevin Lindskoug pitched a shutout at the back as Spectrum’s men collected a 5-0 win at Dundee Stars.

Flames opened their account at 11:20 when Alex Yuill got it started before Ian McNulty doubled the lead a little more than 4 minutes from opening period time.

Just beyond the midway point in the 2nd, back-to-back Flames powerplays, then a stretch of 4 on 4, then about a minute of Stars powerplay all went without a goal at either end. However, when Chris Gerrie stepped out of the box after serving his time, he immediately netted the Flames 3rd at 35:58.

In the 49th minute Robert Lachowicz opened a 4-goal gap and not long after that John Dunbar had the visitors holding the final 5-0 scoreline they would carry on the journey home.

“One of the great challenges in this league are those trips where you literally travel all day and then step off a bus and play a game,” said Paul Dixon.

“Sometimes you look good when you get started and sometimes it falls apart pretty well from the off, but I thought overall we looked pretty sharp tonight.  We had legs and we moved the puck around and we had some good chances to score.”

“On top of that we are glad to have been able to help preserve a shutout by Kevin after he put in a good night for us back there.”

“It’s a great way to start the weekend, but we still have the ugly travel challenge to deal with in getting back home and the quick same day turnaround for a visit by Nottingham Panthers who are just ahead of us in the table.”
