February 9th at Dundee Stars - League
Official Reports

On the road, Flames pulled even on 3 different occasions, but in the end a 2nd period Dundee Stars powerplay goal was the difference in a 4-3 defeat in Scotland.

Matt Marquardt and Braylon Shmyr traded goals about 2 minutes apart halfway through the opening frame, but Marquardt’s 2nd of the contest 74 seconds from break had the home team in a 2-1 lead.

Shmyr’s 2nd less than 2 minutes into the new set put the teams back on even terms before an Egils Kalns strike just over the midway point put Stars ahead again.  Jamie Crooks levelled it for a 3rd time on a powerplay at 32:49, but they were again a goal off the pace when the period ended thanks to Kevin Dufour in the 35th minute then Stars closed the lid tight in the 3rd to ensure that would stand as the winner.

“Any defeat is upsetting, but always feels a bit worse when you come this far and have to go all the way home empty handed,” said Paul Dixon.

“Coming off the 2 wins last weekend we were looking at that as maybe the start of a bit of a roll, but obviously we are back to the drawing board next week to now recover after a couple of games out of the points.”

“There are no easy nights in this league and we are going to have to work to be successful in our next outing.”
