McNulty and Ferguson Return
The Flames have re-signed their top two point getters with the return of Canadian Forwards Brett Ferguson and Ian McNulty.
This will mark Ferguson’s 5th term with the side since joining in 2017-2018 interrupted only by a short stay at HC Detva in Slovakia during the pandemic break. The Flames captain iced in all 68 games last season, scoring 17 goals and 60 points to take his club career tally to 65 goals and 163 assists in 241 starts. The 6’0, 195lb skater was on hand for the Flames first Elite league trophy, helping out with the Patton Conference title in 2018-2019.
McNulty, 29, returns for a 2nd season, after debuting in 21-22 following 3 ECHL terms with Tulsa Oilers. The 6’0”, 185lb forward made 67 starts in Flames gear and led the team in goals with 32, while adding 30 assists for a team topping 62 point finish.
“These 2 guys obviously were big contributors to our overall production offensively, and signing them back is a big boost to what we are trying to do with the rest of the line up,” said Head Coach Paul Dixon.
“Brett acted as a terrific captain, providing leadership in so many different ways so in terms of the things that cannot be measured by stats we have done well to make sure he will be back with the group.”
“This was Ian’s first experience overseas and he certainly put in a good showing the maybe will be even better now that he is more familiar with the situation and can start the season with a level of comfort that is difficult to have when you are arriving to a new place.”
“I know both of them are very excited to be returning for another season, and we couldn’t be happier to have them both back when the new season gets underway in September.”
