Flames release Eriksson
Swedish forward Johan Eriksson has been released by the Flames. In 18 League and Cup games this season, the 6’1”, 195lb forward had 5 goals and 11 points. Eriksson iced last season at Allsvenskan’s Almtuna where he posted 13 goals and 11 assists to bring his career points to 107 in 204 games. He split the previous schedule with Almtuna and Strömsbro, yielding his best season with a 61 point term thanks to 28 goals and 33 assists. He made his pro start in 2012-2013 with an SHL game before spending the next 3 seasons in HockeyEttan at Tranås where he led the league in goals and points during the 15-16 set. He became a full time Allsvenskan player in 2016-2017 with a transfer to Tingsryds where he opened his league account with 22 goals and 39 points. He moved on to MODO for the next pair of terms, the 2nd of which included his first mainland European stay when he iced 8 times at Austrian outfit, Villacher. The 29 year old spent the bulk of the 2019-2020 stretch in France with Chamonix and was nearly a point a game pace before returning home for his final 2 seasons on home soil. “This is always the most difficult part of the job,” said Head Coach Paul Dixon, “especially in light of our early season success.” “We are carrying extra bodies so we will not play short on game night, but we do intend to make a roster addition in the near future.” “We wish Johan all the best going forward in his hockey career.” |
