Flames sign Ripplinger

Flames have signed Canadian forward Turner Ripplinger.  The 5’10”, 170lb winger is fresh off his 3rd season with University of Regina Cougars where he had 8 goals and 19 points in 20 starts after a rookie season in 2019-2020 where he opened with 2 goals and 12 points before 2020-2021 where only training was allowed during the Covid season pause.

The 23 year old iced 3 seasons of junior hockey in British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan prior to the university jump.  He opened in the BCHL with Penticton Vees in 2016-2017 where he had 9 points in 45 games on the way to the league championship.  He followed that up with 17 goals and 32 assists in 57 starts at MJHL Portage Terriers before finishing his Junior eligibility at SJHL’s  Estevan Bruins where he put up his best season offensively with 26 goals and 59 points in another 57 appearances.

“The transfer deadline has come and gone, but we had the key transfer details sorted out with Turner before the deadline and have now just been waiting on a visa,” said Paul Dixon.

“Turner has put up some good offensive numbers in recent seasons at Jr and University levels and by all accounts he is a skilled player who can get up and down the ice so hopefully he can demonstrate some of his offensive punch here once he gets a few games under his belt.”

“With the loss of Tristan Frei for the remainder of the season, we couldn’t risk the final run always playing at least one guy short, so Turner is a big addition to the club, and we are looking forward to his debut on Saturday night.”
