Flames have added more than 700 Elite League games and nearly 70 Great Britain Caps to their lineup with the signing of Forward Robert Lachowicz.  Including the recent Elite series, the 31 year old has spent the past 11 seasons full time with his hometown Nottingham Panthers.  Starting with appearances while still under 18 in 2007-2008, he has scored 120 goals and 355 points at the UK’s top level of play. The 5’10”, 175lb skater’s best offensive Elite League season was 2013-2014 when he bagged 18 goals and 33 assists for a 51 point haul while helping Panthers to the Challenge Cup title; one of 6 his side collected between 2009 and 2016.  In 2012-2013 Panthers monopolised the winnings by securing the league, cup and playoffs. It was their 3rd consecutive playoff capture between 2011 and 2013, and they would go on to add another in 2016.  Lachowicz also helped Panthers to the 2016-2017 Continental Cup European championship before his final trophy at the club this past Spring when they hoisted the Champions banner for the Elite series event.

“I am looking forward to getting down there and getting started,” said Lachowicz. “I've heard lots of good things about the club and looking forward to some new opportunities and having a successful year with the team.”

Prior to gaining full time Panthers status in 2010-2011, the national team stalwart spent the bulk of the 2009-2010 campaign with Premier League’s Manchester Phoenix where he had 28 goals and 55 points in 51 starts.

On International duty, including 3 games at the Olympic Qualifier in 2019-2020, Lachowicz has represented his country for 11 straight years at senior level.  In 66 games, he has 4 goals and 18 assists while helping with 3 Division 1B silver medals that preceded a rapid ascent to the top level of world play when they grabbed Gold in 2017 before taking gold again when they stepped up a year later to earn a spot in with the Elite World group in 2019 where they have been for the last pair of World tournaments.   In addition to senior duty, he opened his national team experience with the U18 and 20’s where he helped with a pair of silver medals, one each at 18 and 20 level, before picking up the top spot with 20’s in 2009-2010.

“When you look at Robert’s paper resume for hockey, it is hard to get your mind around the kind of domestic and international career he has put together,” said Paul Dixon. “There are only a handful of domestic players historically who stack up to the experience he has playing with a flagship type domestic club for so long and with such longevity within the national programme.”

“He has been a quality player in this league for more than a decade and we know that with his pace, skills and experience there is no doubt that he is going to be an impactful player for us when we get started in September.”

“It’s an exciting signing for the club, and it will be a great sight to watch Robert take to Spectrum ice wearing the home team’s colours.”
