Lindhagen Joins Roster

The Flames have added Erik Lindhagen who can play Centre, Wing or Defence.  The former Swedish National Jr. team member joins the Spectrum group from Nottingham Panthers where he has been for two seasons. In 130 Elite League and Cup games, the 5’10”, 180lb skater has 12 goals and 44 points. In another 9 Champions Hockey League games, the 30 year old added 3 assists as well as 3 goals and 7 points during the team’s Continental Cup winning haul in 2016-2017.

“I’m excited to be a part of Guildford Flames,” said Lindhagen.  “Seeing the team that has been put together I think we can be optimistic about having some success in the upcoming season.”

Lindhagen’s Panthers stay was his UK debut after arriving with significant experience on his home soil in the country’s top divisions.  In 2005-2006, he made his pro debut when he iced a pair of games with Swedish Hockey League’s Linköping.  He added 7 games in 2006-2007 before spending most of 2007-2008 in the 2nd league with Allsvenskan outfit Växjö Lakers.  He had 45 appearances at Lakers in the season that followed, registering 12 goals and 15 assists.  Lindhagen added 39 more games, as well as 32 more points, in the 2009-2010 campaign where he again shared time up at the top with 13 Linköping games that preceded a 4 season full time run from 2010-2011. In that season, he had 10 goals and 21 points and eventually totalled 232 SHL outings, finishing with 19 goals and 26 assists.  In the pair of seasons ahead of his UK debut, Lindhagen spent nearly 100 more Allsvenskan games with  Södertälje and  Timrå where he closed out his 2nd league account on 99 points from 29 goals and 70 assists across 224 games.

In international play, Lindhagen pulled on country colours 3 times at the 2006-2007 World Jr Championships where he had 1 assist.

“We had a plan to try and bring someone in who could play at any position which we felt is that little bit of insurance for the depth of the roster,” offered Paul Dixon.

“With one quality signing we can fill a spot up front or on Defence on any given night, and that is a very valuable asset to add to the mix.”

“Erik is an excellent skater, and having watched him last year, he is a very suitable type player to blend in well with the kind of game we want to play.”

“The reports on him are that he is a true team player, and that he will do whatever is asked of him to help make us a better from one night to the next.  He has demonstrated an outstanding attitude in our dealings so far and we are pleased to invite Erik and his versatile skill set into our plans for the new season.”
