Long and Milton return for 23-24
Adam Long will return to the club to complete the 3 man netminding group and he will be joined by British forward Zack Milton who will play on loan to Romford Raiders for much of the season. The pairing completes the Flames 23-24 season commencing roster.
27 year old Long arrives for his 3rd consecutive season under Spectrum lights. The 6’1”, 160lb netminder arrived in time for the 21-22 campaign after the 19-20 set with Manchester Storm and the 20-21 pandemic schedule at NIHL Haringey Huskies.
Milton, 22, spent the bulk of last term with NIHL Basingstoke Bison where he had 25 goals and 64 points for the NIHL side. The 6’0”, 180lb forward made his Elite League debut with Flames last season with 7 starts at Spectrum. The former Great Britain U20 silver medallist will ice most nights with NIHL Raiders, but will be available to the Flames across the length of the 23-24 schedule.
“Adam brings a great attitude to a very, very difficult role,” said Paul Dixon. “He has to put in the same effort at training every day that everyone else does, he has to travel up and down the country, the hotels, the buses, the flights, yet he doesn’t know when or if he will be called upon at any given time.”
“He supports Taz and Eamon and just stays positive every day. We cannot credit him enough for the way he goes about his job, and we are glad to have him back with us for a new season.”
“Zack came in last year and we liked what we saw from him. He is a young guy who is working hard to move his way up. He had a great year in Basingstoke and his development continues to progress. He earned a place with us, and will train here full time, but we also know that he needs much more ice time than we can give him in games at this time so having him play at Romford for the majority of his game appearances will benefit him a great deal.”
