March 5th at Belfast Giants - League

Flames will return home Sunday night for a final showdown with Belfast Giants on the wrong end of a pair of scores after falling in Saturday’s 2nd game in Northern Ireland by a 5-1 count.

JJ Piccinich got Giants started on a powerplay at 12:48 and Ben Lake at 17:14 put the home team ahead by a pair before the break.

Just 72 seconds after re-start Mark Cooper extended Belfast to a 3-goal spread, but a late 2nd period Flames powerplay got them on the board thanks to Jamal Watson.

Early in the 3rd, Flames killed off a 5 on 3 then the remaining standard powerplay, but just as the 5th skater re-joined play, Giants bagged their 4th then added another in the 51st minute to complete the outcome.

“It’s tough to go away and come home empty handed, like that, but we are going to have to find a way to get turned around and try to grab the 3rd game when they come to us tomorrow,” said Paul Dixon.

“The thing I like about this team is we don’t have a quitter in the bunch so I know they will be up for it, and they will do everything they can to try and get a result on home ice.”
