Flames stole a league table point thanks to a pair of late goals 25 seconds part to recover from 2 goals down, forcing overtime where Glasgow Clan banked the 2nd point with a 3-2 win.
Former Flames skater Robert Lachowicz began a 3 point night with their opener at 12:47 and the lead held over into the middle set and remained on the board through 40 minutes.
In the 50th minute, Lachowicz’s 2nd of the evening looked like it might have put the game away, but Steven McParland at 55:17 and Brett Ferguson at 55:42 ensured a point for the visiting side before Zack Vinnell ended it 92 seconds into the extra frame.
Eamon McAdam made 26 saves on 29 shots for Flames while Jake Keilly was 35 for 37.
“We were much better later in the game than we were earlier and were able to put enough pressure on them to claw our way back into it,” said Paul Dixon.
“You never want to lose a contest, but in the big picture we were staring down the barrel of a shutout loss with not much time left so it is a game where we can take a point and go away feeling that we never quit on ourselves and we did enough to get something out of the game and it is certainly a better feeling heading into Dundee with a road point in the bank.”
