Calle Ackered and Erik Lindhagen each had a pair of goals to go with singles by TJ Foster and Kruise Reddick as the Flames converted a mid game 1-1 draw into a 6-2 win at Coventry Blaze.
A little over 5 minutes into the contest, Ackered had the visitors in a 1-0 lead they nursed through the opening 20 minutes of play.
Jake Hansen replied for Blaze near on the midway mark, but a goal by Foster and Ackered’ s 2nd of the evening in the 34th and 36th minutes, respectively, sent the Flames to the last break enjoying a 2 goal difference.
A quick start to the 3rd, with a pair of opening minute strikes by Reddick 11 seconds after restart and Lindhagen just 24 ticks after that had Spectrum’s men on the good end of a 5-1 gap. Lindhagen added his 2nd about 6 minutes from time before a late Kelin Ainsworth goal adjusted the final tally but not the ultimate outcome.
“That is a big win against a good team in a building that is not easy to gain points,” said Paul Dixon.
“We had a few moments in the first half of the game when we stopped skating a bit, but perseverance turned into some quick scoring and follow up to put some distance between us.”
“The play itself was not as disparate as the score might reflect but we feel good value for the effort and the overall outcome, and now we need to look ahead to Saturday at Glasgow before getting back home on Sunday against table topping Belfast Giants.”
