O'Connor returns for 2nd term
Defenceman Ben O’Connor is returning to the Flames. Fresh off his latest stint with GB where he helped the national programme back to the Elite pool of world championship play, O’Connor, 34, returns for a 2nd season under Spectrum lights. During his opening stint in Flames wear, the Durham native was selected as an EIHL 2nd all star team member and named the league’s British player of the year while leading his side’s Defenceman in points with 12 goals and 47 assists over 68 starts. “Ben possesses a rare talent from the back with his ability to handle the puck and help out offensively,” explained Paul Dixon. “Between that and what looks like nearly limitless experience on his CV, including a great deal of winning over the course of his career, he is a valuable member of our roster.” “We are trying to move ourselves up from last season and push ourselves over the hump to capture a trophy and you need guys who have been there before.” “Ben is totally committed to what we are trying to achieve here, and we are looking forward to breaking camp in September with him in the group.” |
