Tugnutt added to Flames roster Flames have added Canadian-American forward Matt Tugnutt to replace Bryan Lemos who opted to return to North America in early November. Tugnutt, 27, spent the early part of this season with ECHL South Carolina Stingrays, scoring 2 goals and 3 points in 12 starts. He began his pro career during the 2021-2022 season when he had 49 games and 20 points at Idaho Steelheads along with 5 points in 4 more appearances with Greenville Swamp Rabbits. He moved last season to make his European debut in France with Chamonix, posting 13 goals and 29 points in 37 tries. From 2017-2018, the 5’10”, 185lb skater played 3 NCAA seasons at Sacred Heart University before spending his last year combining Athletics and Academics at Providence College. In 113 collegiate starts, the native of Portland, Maine, registered 30 goals and 77 points. Tugnutt iced 5 seasons of Junior hockey at Kemptville 73’s in Ontario, Canada. He was a back to back All-Star selection during his final pair of terms, 2015-2016 and 2016-2017. During his tenure, he iced 261 times while posting 210 points from 83 goals and 127 assists. “Matt is a guy who can play in a lot of different situations,” explained Head Coach Paul Dixon. “He is an energetic player that can contribute offensively, kill penalties and play down the middle or on the wing.” “Circumstances and injuries have forced us to make more changes than we had the last couple of seasons, but we have brought in some good people and we think Matt is a great addition right when we need it.” |
