January 18th v Dundee Stars - League

5

Final

0

Flames jumped out to a 4 goal lead before the contest was 15 minutes old, and Jake Kupsky posted a shutout to ensure the early scoring would be more than enough on the way to a 5-0 win over the visiting Dundee Stars.

Ethan Strang kicked it off at 3:11 before Matt Alvaro added another in the 8th minute. Dan Catenacci and Jack Jacome at 10:07 and 14:06, respectively, sent the home team to the break with the wide cushion.

Flames added the only goal of the middle frame about halfway through with Alvaro’s 2nd of the evening and they remained 5 goals to the good through the remaining time.

Jake Kupsky was perfect on 31 shots, while Dundee started Richard Sabol who made 1 save on 5 shots before turning the net over to Jarrett Fiske who was 20 for 21, entering the game at 14:06.

“You couldn’t ask for a better start than we had tonight,” admitted Paul Dixon.

“You always talk about jumping on a team, especially one like Dundee who are straight off a very long journey, but you don’t expect to have all that good fortune around the net so early and so often but you certainly take it when you can get it.”

“When you get that kind of distance early, it puts a lot of pressure on the other team and we have been there so we know first hand what an uphill battle that feels like.”

“It is a good win and a valuable set of points but we must quickly re-set here to get ready for our visit to Coventry tomorrow night.”
