Lewis Hook returned to the lineup, scoring twice, and Flames bagged 5 unanswered in the 3rd period to erase a 2 goal deficit and record a 6-3 win on the road at Coventry Blaze.
The clubs traded opening period strikes with Jack Hopkins marking the scoresheet at 12:42, but Hook levelling with his reply in the 19th minute.
Blaze converted a powerplay at 25:06 through Nick Seitz and went to the 2nd break up a pair thanks to a Michael Regush follow up 97 seconds from the end of the set.
The comeback commenced less than 5 minutes into the 3rd when Brett Ferguson closed the gap. A couple of minutes after that, on a powerplay, Charlie Curti squared it and just inside the back half of the frame, Ethan Strang gave Flames their first lead of the contest with what turned out to be the winner. Matt Alvaro at 56:34 opened some breathing space before Hook’s 2nd into an empty net at 58:30 closed out the result.
Jake Kupsky made 30 saves on 33 shots against Coventry's Mat Robson who was 31 of 36.
“Even in the best circumstances you don’t really see a period like that coming, but certainly not after we closed the 2nd period well behind on shots and territorial play,” explained Paul Dixon.
“I know we have a team who will never give up no matter what kind of night we are having, but you don’t predict that kind of goal rush at any time. It was a great showing by all of them to ensure we had the puck a lot in the 3rd so we could spend a good stretch of time in their zone to create opportunities that we managed to turn into goals.”
“It was an important win because we are right in the same area in the table as Coventry and those head to head points can be the difference when the end of season table is tallied. Tonight, it moved us up a spot into the top half of the standings and we want to continue to try to push our way up from here.”
