Flames bagged 4 3rd period goals to secure a 5-3 home win over Glasgow Clan that secured their 3rd win in a row and a full 6 point haul from the week’s match schedule.
Seconds into the 1st Jack Jacome set Flames in front and the early marker was still the only goal on the board through the end of the set.
About halfway through the 2nd, Clan converted a powerplay through Cole Ully and then went ahead for the first time off the stick of Liam Finlay just over 2 minutes after that.
A little under 4 minutes into the 3rd, Ethan Strang’s powerplay strike squared it and Charlie Curti added another in the 50th minute. At 57:13, Charlie Dodero put Flames up a pair. A Deven Sideroff reply inside the last 2 minutes created a nailbiter finish, but Matt Alvaro into an open net 58 seconds from time guaranteed the full point capture.
Eamon McAdam had the start for the Flames and made 33 saves on 36 shots against Landon Bow for Clan who was 25 of 30.
“When we looked at that start of this week we knew we had a chance to make a bit of an advancement in the league table with 6 points up for grabs, and it is a great outcome to get all 6 even when 4 or 5 would have felt pretty good too,” admitted Paul Dixon.
“We certainly were not at our best all night against Clan and they had stretches, especially when they tied and went ahead in the 2nd, where they had a lot of possession and really had us on the ropes.”
“They had a great chance to extend their lead at that time, and Eamon stole a sure goal which I think that was a key moment at the right time to help us gain a bit more footing and find a way back.”
“It’s a good week for guys to get an extra day off after earning it like this, and then we will get back to training with a lot of positives to carry into the next set of matches.”
