Busch moves to Flames
6’3”, 195lb forward Tyler Busch will suit up for Flames this season after a pair of EIHL terms at Cardiff Devils from 2023-2025. The 29 year old skater iced 127 times at the Welsh outfit across League, Cup and Continental Cup duty where he posted 30 goals and 61 points while helping Devils to a Continental Cup Bronze medal before following up with the tournament’s Championship trophy last season. The Canadian began his pro career in 2020-2021 with Swedish side Tranås AIF before returning to North American for a pair of ECHL terms at Fort Wayne Komets and Iowa Heartlanders; a stretch that also included brief AHL stops at Henderson Silver Knights and Iowa Wild. With Heartlanders just ahead of his Cardiff transfer, Busch had 14 goals and 28 points in 56 starts. Prior to his foray into the pro game, the native of Lloydminster, Alberta spent 3+ seasons at Spruce Grove Saints with his best offensive term being his last when he had 68 points in 52 games and was selected to the AJHL North All-Star team and Most Dedicated Player that added to his personal award count thanks to his selection as the North Rookie of the Year in 2013-2014. Team wise, Saints were back to back league champions from 2013-2015 and he was also a member of the Canada West World Junior A Challenge side that collected the Gold medal that season. His junior success earned him a spot at NCAA Arizona State University for the 4 campaigns that followed. During his collegiate run, Busch played 131 games while posting 26 goals and 51 assists. “Tyler is an excellent 2 way centre iceman who can impact many different areas of the game,” said Paul Dixon. “He is a bigger body who can create a lot of traffic at their net, good in his own end, good on faceoffs, a good penalty killer, can chip in offensively, and is able to move up and down the lineup to fit in wherever he is placed.” “He had a very good couple of seasons with Cardiff and we are excited to have him join us for the coming season.” |
